Who is YOUR Mentor?
Looking Back
If you’re like most of us, you’ve had someone in your past who has stepped forward to offer you guidance and support when you’ve needed it. That mentor did not expect anything from you in return. He or she was fulfilled merely by making a difference for you by contributing to your growth and advancement.
Consider that person? Ask yourself:
- Is he/she still in my life? Or has time or circumstances diminished our relationship?
- Have I properly expressed my gratitude for the help that I received?
- Have my situation and needs evolved to the point where I should seek a new mentoring relationship?
Last, but not least…
Ask yourself:
- Who have I mentored in the past?
- Who else could benefit from my guidance and advise either now or the future?
- Is it time for me to step forward?
Mentorship is like friendship. To HAVE a mentor, it helps to BE one.
